Congratulations to simulation specialist Gordon McKeown on his selection to co-present at this year's AACN NTI national conference. Along with Jill McAbee and Gina Clayton, both active facilitators with the Simulation Center, the group will present on the improvement seen in our Children's Hospital as a result of focused simulation education and training. Congratulations to all of them.

With the new 112th Congress now in session, there is renewed interest in the Simulation Bill formerly introduced in both the House and Senate in 2009. Members of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and Advanced Initiatives in Medical Simulation (AIMS) recently visited the HILL to garner support for the legislation. There is a strong belief that we will see the bill reintroduced into the 112th very soon.
The likely imminent reintroduction of this legislation, coupled with the ongoing interest in Washington in finding new systems to improve healthcare in America, will represent an important opportunity to advance the field of medical simulation.
Stay tuned for information about contacting your Senators and Congressman to ask for their support for this bill once it is reintroduced.

Gordon has over a decade of clinical nursing experience, with 8 years as a critical care nurse. He came to us from the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine where he worked as the Pulmonary Hypertension Coordinator. Gordon earned diplomas in Nursing, as well as Ambulance and Emergency care from Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. Gordon hopes to see more simulation used in nursing education.
