Scott K. Newell, BS, NREMT-P - Simulation Specialist
Scott serves as a simulation specialist with a strong emphasis on facilitating and instructing all American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care (AHA ECC) resuscitation training programs at the Simulation Center.
After graduation from Valley Forge Military College, Scott began working as a paramedic while attending Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, and earned a BS in Emergency Medical Service Administration in 1995. He spent the next several years in EMS, ultimately flying with an international jet air ambulance company in west Texas. He is a Nationally Registered Paramedic, and maintains active instructor certificates in ACLS, PALS and BLS.
Scott is also an avid general aviation pilot. Living the best of both worlds, he earned his commercial pilot license, and was both the air ambulance Operations Director and a Learjet 35 & 55 first officer at the same company in Texas. With an intimate respect for the parallels between professional flying and resuscitation teamwork, Scott's academic niche is the application of aviation Crew Resource Management to improving patient safety, a team concept at the core of simulation training. He is currently working toward his Master of Aeronautical Science in Human Factors through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He continues active flying in the local aviation community with friends and his three children, Austin, Marissa, and Aidan.
